Mel C Rules Out Spice Girls Reunion – For Now

Filed under: Uncategorized — enews @ 3:07 pm

Former Spice Girl Melanie Chisholm is denying recent rumors that the group is planning a reunion – but she doesn’t rule it out for the future.

“There are no plans for it at all with or without me,” Chisholm, 33, told PEOPLE Wednesday at a party for the movie I Want Candy in London. “Obviously, two of the girls [Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton and Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown] are pregnant at the moment.

“We have discussed that if there was a fantastic event that we felt would benefit from the attention [a reunion] would bring, we would consider that as a one-up, but there is no time this year as everyone is very busy with personal or professional things.”

Chisholm told reporters there’s no consensus among the ex-Spices over whether to reunite: “It’s not all me – I’ve spoken to the other girls and one of them thinks it’s great but the others don’t think it’s a good idea.”

The former Sporty Spice recorded her own version of Bow Wow Wow’s “I Want Candy” for the soundtrack to the movie of the same name, which stars Carmen Electra. She is also releasing her fourth solo album, This Time, in the UK on April 2.

She’s also thrilled for her former bandmates. Of her close pal, Bunton, who announced her pregnancy in January, Chisholm told PEOPLE: “I saw Emma recently and she looked fantastic. It’s a very exciting time for all of my former colleagues.”

That includes Victoria Beckham (Chisholm snapped to a reporter who referred to her as Posh: “Her name is Victoria, by the way”), who is planning a move to Los Angeles.

“I haven’t spoken to Victoria for a while, but I am sure it is going to be a great move,” Chisholm said. “It is a wonderful place, especially for kids, great weather and lots to do.”
