Since winning the Most Improved Actress Award last year, Shirley Yeung is starring in the currently airing Always Ready as a disabled flying correspondent. Confined to the wheelchair throughout the show, Shirley has to depend on her facial expressions to express herself. With regards to that, she said that it was a huge challenge. “In Angels on a Mission, there were many fighting scenes which were very strenuous. However, they were nothing compared to my scenes in AR. The scenes are a real test of my skills, she said.Although challenging, Shirley views it as a form of training. She said, “Nikki (her character), although disabled, has an extremely positive outlook in life. So I have to exaggerate my movements and expressions, and I hope the energy will infect everyone.
This being her first time acting as a disabled, it was indeed an eye-opening experience for her. “Although they have something lacking, and they need help in their day-to-day lives, but many times, they can be more independent, more strong willed than normal people, and I hope that people will not look down on the physically disabled, said Shirley.
